The snap tool is used to fit both poles and conductors to LiDAR points to fine tune placement after the automodelling process of extracting the poles and fitting both them and the conductors has been completed. LiDAR points are defaulted to be purple before a conductor is fitted to them, but once fitted the points will turn grey to show the conductor is accurately modelling the points.

The point cloud size of the LiDAR can also be adjusted to increase, decrease or hide the LiDAR points as desired.

Poles

In order to use, first click the snap tool from the sidebar and then click the desired pole. There are three options for snapping:

1. Snap to pole location:

Once a pole has been created, it can be precisely placed by first clicking on the desired pole, clicking the snap tool and selecting this option and then left clicking on the LiDAR point (marked brown for poles). This will move the pole to fit the LiDAR.

2. Snap pole height:

This ensures that the pole is the correct height to fit the data and is used in the same way as above, with the exception that 'snap pole height' is selected

3. Attachment:

This allows you to control the height of the crossarm(s) on the pole. To ensure a precision fit, simply left click the desired crossarm in the Snapping options and then left click the LiDAR points to move to.

Conductors

There are five options when snapping conductors using this tool:

  1. Cable sag: this ensures the conductor cables sag to match the data
  2. Cable attachment: adjusts the attachment height of the conductor
  3. Cable offset: adjusts the horizontal distance of the cable attachment
  4. Attachment to cable from point selection: forces the model to attach a cable based on a s
  5. Insulator to cable from point selection: forces the model to fit a line to a selection of LiDAR points

To use, left click the conductor with the snap tool selected (you will see it turn green), then choose the correct option for what you needing to adjust out of the menu on the right. It is then simply a matter of left clicking again on the correct LiDAR point to make the conductor fit.
