The Split tool is used to split a conductor at a specific construction in order to reduce loads, or to fine tune the model.

There are two options when using this tool:

1. "Split to seperate conductors sharing a single construction"

This is used when the line is turning and alters the construction from a single crossarm to a vertical assembly to reduce horizontal load on the crossarm. To use this, simply click the Splitting and Joining tool from the sidebar and then click the desired pole on which the conductor is to be split and the tool will automatically model the new construction.

2. "Split to separate conductors on separate constructions"

This modifies the construction into two seperate crossarms, so that different attachment heights and/or constructions can be set for both of the crossarms. This is used in the same fashion as above, with the exception that "split to separate conductors on separate constructions" is selected instead.

The join tool can also be used to join two conductors. Simply select a conductor and another conductor. You will also have two options in the properties:

  • Merge constructions but keep conductors separate
  • Join conductors to a single conductor
