Environments

The Environments tab in the menu bar is used to set specific environmental variables for your model. From here, all aspects of the environments used in calculations such as blowout or clearance measurement can be modified as shown below.

This table can be both imported from and exported to an excel or CSV file to ensure that multiple projects are able to have the same custom environments.

You can:

  • Change environment colours by clicking on the colour box - this will change the way they are represented in reporting and visualisations
  • Enable or disable an environment from being viewed in your DXF exports, profile view, or blowout visualisation by selecting or disabling the enabled box

Strength States and Derating Factor

Strength states are used and applied to an environment in the strength column. Strength states are used in the analysis to derate the maximum strength of construction to a new allowable maximum.

For example the environment Max Wind is using the strength state Strength and in this strength state, wood poles are derated by a factor of 0.6.

With this applied factor, you can now see that in the Tip Load analysis of a pole the derated tip load limit is now 6.00 instead of its original strength of 10.
